SCBWI Presents: The Charlotte and Wilbur Award for Compassion for Animals
The Charlotte and Wilbur Award for Compassion for Animals honors books for their dedication to promoting compassion and respect for animals in their readers.
I created the Charlotte and Wilbur Award for Compassion for Animals to honor a book that opens the hearts and minds of its readers to the awesomeness of animals and the responsibility of protecting and preserving them.
I read Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White when I was eight years old, and have cared about spiders (I take them outside), and pigs (I won’t eat one) ever since.
The award is given through the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators’ (SCBWI) Impact and Legacy Fund.
